2020 ADCC Student Competition

Looking for the Best
The 2020 ADCC Student Competition

As always, we are setting out to recognize and award the absolute best student work. This year especially, we believe that great student work should be promoted and celebrated, which is why we've waived entry fees for the 2020 Student Competition.

Rather than providing a brief for a specific brand or product, we’re looking for the best work from your portfolio. It’s that piece that you’re most proud of. The piece that represents what you’re capable of – the one that truly showcases your talent. So send us your best and prepare to be judged by the best.

You should submit your strongest work, along with a brief rationale (50 words or less), so our judges can understand any unique context.

DEADLINE
Entries must be submitted online by 12pm on Friday, June 5, 2020.

WINNING AN ADCC STUDENT AWARD

What does winning mean?
Earning an ADCC award is the perfect way to launch your career. Your work will be featured on the ADCC Archive, alongside work belonging to the industry’s top professionals - cementing your place in Canadian creative history, which stretches back over 70 years.

What are the awards?
There are three Advertising & Design Club of Canada award categories; Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Judges will award up to 2 Gold award winners; one from the work submitted to the Advertising and Interactive categories, the other from work submitted to the Graphic Design and Editorial & Book Design categories. There will be no limit on Silver or Bronze awards.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to all full-time Canadian students attending a recognized post-secondary institution (either in Canada or abroad) and studying in either:

  • Advertising
  • Graphic Design
  • Editorial & Book Design
  • Interactive

Students may enter individually or in teams of up to four students.

Students graduating in 2020 are still eligible to enter this year’s Student Competition.

ENTRY LIMIT

The ADCC has decided to waive entry fees for the 2020 Student Competition. This year’s competition will be free to all eligible students.

Instead of having fees, we will be enforcing a limit on the number of entries that students can submit:

  • Student non-members may enter a maximum of 1 entries.
  • Students with a valid ADCC Membership may enter a maximum of 5 entries.

Entering more than the allowed limit will result in disqualification from the competition.

JUDGING

What are the judges looking for?
We will be selecting winners in the ADCC Student Competition based on originality, concept, and execution as determined by the judges. These awards are designed to recognize students who showcase exceptional talent or craftsmanship through their work.

Judging panel
All entries will be judged by a panel of Canada’s top creatives from the advertising, design, and interactive fields.

Finalist Notification
Finalists will be notified in July and will have an opportunity to review their credits and files. A finalist list will also be posted on the ADCC website at that time.

ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS

Submit your entry files and credits online. See specs for specific categories below.

Submitted files – including links to websites - should not include any student information (name or school). Do not include links to your personal portfolios.

Entrants must upload a rationale for their entry to make sure our judges can understand any unique context (50 words or less). Please upload PDF (.pdf) for your entries. The rationale should not include your name or school information – it should only include the category and entry title.
